  • Staffing: Seventy health care providers at seven locations. All of our physicians are faculty members at the University of TreeHope School of Medicine, and all are board-certified. United Woodland has begun a new primary care physician residency that focuses on increasing ambulatory care. Currently 50 residents are in the program and actively seeing patients.
  • Technology in Use: The physician group currently promotes the use of EPIC. Some providers, especially those who have recently joined the group, are still using a variety of systems from non-EPIC EMRs to fully-paper based systems. The organization’s goal is to migrate all providers to EPIC within the next 18 months.

The shared EPIC implementation has built in decision support tools, CPOE, and tools to provide tailored patient education materials. The group recently purchased access to the EPIC patient-portal technology, myChart. Using myChart, patients are able to: schedule appointments, communicate with a provider using secure mail, access test results, and request prescription refills. Only 20% of patients seeing an EPIC provider who have seen their provider since the myChart rollout have created an account. Of those, 58% have used myChart for one or more of the functions described above.
