Green Forest

CIPCT Partnership

We have had a solid partnership with the Clinical Informatics and Patient Centered Technologies (CIPCT) program at the University of Washington since 2008.  The students in the CIPCT program are at the top of their field and bring a wealth of experience to enabling GreenForest Healthcare Systems to be at the forefront of healthcare.

Because healthcare is a turbulent environment and GreenForest always wants to be on the cutting edge – we are able to call upon the expertise of students in the CIPCT program to help us navigate these challenging times. And, in return, we offer our resources and organizational structures as a learning environment.

Past CIPCT Consultations

Below are innovative solutions that crack CIPCT students have put forward to make GreenForest Health Systems one of the best in the world:

  • Improving our outreach with the ‘Telehealth Support System for Asthma (TSSA)’
“… To address the gaps in the social determinants of healthcare, asthma care coordination is vital to improving an asthmatic patient’s health. It will also support the reduction of treatment costs and improve quality care. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, coordinating, receiving and providing care has been a challenge as patients and healthcare professionals require to practice social distancing to reduce the risk of spreading the disease (Smith et al., 2020). Leveraging telehealth technology has become a lifeline for patients and healthcare professionals during the pandemic. Currently driven by the imperative need for social distancing during COVID-19, healthcare professionals, and patients at the Children’s Hospital at GreenForest can utilize telehealth technology like the Telehealth Support System for Asthma (TSSA) to deliver safe, coordinated and quality patient care to pediatric asthma patients and their families.

  • Improving Vaccination Rates through ‘Virtual Vaccines’
“…Given the recent advances in telehealth technology and temperature-controlled expedited shipping capabilities in the United States, we believe a telehealth system for home routine pediatric vaccination could significantly improve the dwindling vaccination rates among the pediatric population during the COVID-19 pandemic and moving forward into the post-pandemic landscape. Simply put, our telehealth vaccination program allows parents to virtually administer CDC-indicated routine vaccinations under a synchronous telehealth video encounter using the Greenforest Health telemedicine application.

  • Fixing our ED Wait Times with  ‘Telehealth: Community Kiosks For Emergency Medicine via GreenForest Health’
“…Wait times in U.S. emergency departments are increasing as witnessed within the GreenForest Health ED. Longer wait times and a delay to care for patients presenting to the ED results in many patients leaving prior to evaluation, which is both a quality and safety issue as well as a source of significant revenue loss. Improving the triage process both in the ED and prior to ED presentation is a possible strategy to control patient volumes and mitigate unnecessary ED utilization. In response to this issue many EDs have implemented the Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME) method to avoid bottlenecks and ensure that patients receive the right treatment at the right time, without long wait times. A RME requires a private exam room (typically placed near or in the waiting room of the ED). Investing in an ED remodel and infrastructure would be shortsighted in the rapidly evolving landscape of telemedicine. Instead, a new telehealth system is proposed to improve emergency triage and use of emergency resources.”
