Moyen Sante Medical Center

MSMC is the sole hospital in Sante, Washington, a small city of 75,000 people on the eastern slope of the Cascade Mountains. MSMC offers a range of inpatient services, including medical, surgical, obstetric and pediatric. It has a 12-bed ICU/CCU, 24-hour emergency department and full imaging services. The Moyen Sante Medical Center is also served by a medical staff of about 20 physicians, ranging from primary care to hospitalists to general specialty care.

• Population Served: MSMC is the only hospital in Maladie County, and as such serves the entire
• regional population. This includes urban, rural, immigrant and medically underserved populations. The town of Sante also has a growing tourist economy in both summer and winter, and so also hosts some itinerant workers. MSMC is also a medical home to several hundred medically complex patients due to MSMC improved ambulatory care availability.
• Payer Mix: 42% Medicare, 14% Medicaid, 33% private insurance, 11% self-pay.
• Staffing: 98 physicians, 35 of whom are in primary care (family medicine, general internal medicine, pediatrics and OB/GYN). 12 of the primary care physicians are employed by MSMC. 13 NPs (3 employed by MSMC). 212 nurses (BSN level and below).
• Technology in Use: MSMC has a relatively new administrative information system that includes the following applications: ADT, patient scheduling, general financial management (accounts payable, budgeting, general ledger), materials and equipment management, human resources and dietetics. Applications not currently available include business intelligence. The EPIC EMR is currently in most inpatient departments but separate standalone departmental information systems are used in radiology, pharmacy, the laboratory and in the emergency department.
